The sun kisses me
And my heart jumps
It leaves me golden
Shades darker
Shades happier

I am a daughter of the Earth
See how our colors blend
Her womb is sacred
She carries my past
Holds my future

Her womb is fragile
Her children
My brothers and sisters and I
Have not been so kind
See how her colors run

We have forgotten
To nurture
To reciprocate
To care

The sun frowns at me
And my heart retreats
I curse its inconsistency
All the while
I remain idle
To the sounds of destruction
To the burdened seas
To the suffering
As if I was not a daughter of the Earth
